Wheeling to be in National Spotlight
C-SPAN to reveal Wheeling history and highlight authors during week-long visit
The Ohio County Public Library Archives and Special Collections, as well as the Wheeling Room, will be part of an upcoming C-SPAN broadcast all about Wheeling.
The network’s 2014 Cities Tour takes C-SPAN’s Book TV and American History TV (AHTV) programming on the road. They travel to selected cities to feature the history and literary life of these communities. “We’ve chosen cities that are rich with history and have interesting local literary communities, but not often featured on the national scene,” said Coordinating Producer Debbie Lamb. “With our visit to each, we hope to bring a little of their heritage to our nationwide audience. Our producers will take our specially outfitted Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) into these selected cities, visiting various literary and historic sites, as we interview local historians, authors and civic leaders. Equipped to shoot and edit on location, we’ll also meet with students, teachers, and local leaders to talk about the work we do for C-SPAN and our efforts in the community. The programming we record in Wheeling will air on Book TV/C-SPAN2 Comcast channel 186 and American History TV/C-SPAN3 Comcast channel 105 on January 17-18, 2015, as part of Wheeling Weekend. C-SPAN is available in Wheeling on Comcast channel 5.”
The segment to be filmed at the Ohio County Public Library will focus on the Wheeling Room, the George Fetherling Collection of rare books and the Brown Collection of Photographs (see our previous post).
